Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash on Gulf Boulevard
REDINGTON BEACH - A St. Petersburg motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when he rear-ended a car on Gulf Boulevard and became trapped in the wreckage.
According to investigators with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Albert Raymond Lacombe of Andover, Minn., was stopped in the northbound lanes of Gulf Boulevard at 157th Avenue to allow pedestrians to cross the road at about 12:30 p.m.
The driver of the motorcycle, John Daniel Shuman, 53, failed to stop and ran into the back of Lacombe’s 2007 Toyota Avalon.
Shuman was pinned between the motorcycle and the car. He was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Lacombe, 74, was not injured.
