Lockdown lifted for Seffner schools
SEFFNER — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has lifted the lockdown on Burnett Middle School and McDonald Elementary School after concluding an unsuccessful search for two burglary suspects in the area.
Debbie Carter, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office, said deputies are confident the suspects are no longer in the area and students are safe. Deputies are not searching anywhere else, she said. They don’t believe the suspects took anything from a residence nearby at 2382 Kingsway Road N during a break-in around 8 a.m. because they were interrupted by the homeowner and fled.
Deputies do not believe the suspects are armed.
