Beware: More dangerous rip currents this weekend
Beachgoers beware this weekend.
The threat of rip currents will continue throughout the weekend, the National Weather Service in Miami says.
East winds will remain at 10 to 15 mph, which can cause breaks in the sand bar that result in rip currents, weather service specialist Bob Ebaugh said.
There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms today through Sunday in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Temperatures should remain in the 70s or 80s, Ebaugh said.
If you go to a beach where there isn’t a lifeguard, don’t go into the water above the knees, Ebaugh said.
If you’re caught in a rip current, it is best not to fight it but ride it out past the sandbar or swim parallel to the beach to get out, Ebaugh said.
